About Guthega

Nestled in the westernmost part of Perisher, Guthega is known for its breathtaking views, quiet charm, and incredible terrain.

With panoramic views of Kosciuszko National Park, Guthega boasts some of the most spectacular scenes in the entire resort. The blend of untouched snow gums, groomed ski and snowboard trails, and rugged alpine beauty makes Guthega truly special. Unlike the more popular areas of Perisher, Guthega provides a more relaxed atmosphere where you can take in the serenity of the mountains.

Ski & Snowboard Terrain at Guthega

Guthega is home to a variety of terrain that caters to different skill levels. From wide-open groomed runs perfect for carving turns to challenging off-piste areas for advanced skiers and riders, there's something for everyone. The mix of natural features and flowing trails makes it a favourite for those seeking adventure away from the crowds.

For beginners and intermediates, trails like Milk Run and Karl’s are perfect for building confidence, while more advanced riders can test their skills on black diamond runs like Parachute and The Screw.

Discover just some of the many incredible ski and snowboard trails Guthega has to offer below.

    Karl's

This intermediate run, accessible via the Freedom Chair, is a long, flowing descent that’s perfect for warming up your legs before tackling more of Guthega’s terrain. Karl’s is named after Karl Guenther, a key figure in Guthega’s development. In the early 1960s, Karl became the Mountain Manager after helping construct the Ski Centre in Guthega car park. He also played a major role in shaping many of Guthega’s ski runs, so it’s only fitting that one of them bears his name.

    Milk Run

Ideal for beginners, this short, open run provides plenty of space to practice turns, stretching from the bottom of the Blue Cow T-Bar to the base of the Freedom Chair. Milk Run earned its name from Guthega’s local milkman, who once used this trail as a shortcut on his route back to Smiggins. While there’s no fresh milk available here, on a sunny day, you can stop by Basecamp Cafe in Guthega car park a hot chocolate and a well-earned break.

    .Parachute

Parachute is a thrilling challenge for advanced riders. Accessible from the Freedom Chair or Blue Cow T-Bar, this run sits at the furthest skier’s right in Guthega. Legend has it that in the early 1950s, a woman skiing this steep slope was caught by a strong gust of wind. Wearing a long dress, she was lifted over the top of the mountain and floated down onto what is now the run Schnaxl, giving Parachute its fitting name.

    Hanky Panky

We won’t spill all the details on how this run got its name, but let’s just say the early days of Guthega were filled with adventure both on and off the slopes! Hanky Panky is an intermediate run featuring wide, open spaces that make it perfect for carving turns, especially in the early morning. It can be accessed from either the Freedom Chair or the Blue Cow T-Bar.
