The once blue and white train that you have come to know and love has been given a new lease on life by local artist Mike Shankster and international artist Arina Apostolova.

Mike and Arina spent two weeks painting a mural that covers four of the train’s carriages, inspired by the views that can be seen from the train as it travels through Kosciuszko National Park.

Perisher born and bred; Mike grew up in Perisher Valley until he started school down in Jindabyne. When we chatted to Mike, he reminisced on the smells, the sounds and the feel of the cold air blowing up the tunnel…as well as the taste of the beloved donuts on the Skitube platform (if you know, you know!).
