OVER A METRE OF SNOW FALLS IN PERISHER
Australia’s favourite and largest ski resort, Perisher has experienced incredible snowfalls over the past week. The storm delivered 117cm of new snow across the four resort areas of Perisher Valley, Blue Cow, Smiggin Holes and Guthega, providing fantastic conditions for skiers and boarders to enjoy.
The massive snow storm hit the mountains last Thursday and continued all weekend delivering huge amounts of snow each day. The snowfall has set Perisher up for an amazing August and September. All 47 lifts are operating, accessing over 100 groomed runs and there has been no better time to visit Perisher than now to experience these amazing conditions. Perisher’s Chief Operating Officer, Peter Brulisauer, says “We are thrilled to have received such a huge snowfall. It’s one of the biggest we have seen. The second half of the winter including spring is shaping up to be the best in many years.”
With even more snow on the way next week, this spring is shaping up to be a fantastic time in Perisher. Get ready to plan your spring break as Perisher is Spring Loaded with heaps of snow and a huge range of events happening all through September. The events calendar is jammed pack with loads of activities including Red Bull Pit Stop Challenge, DC Spring Break rail jam, BrewSki Craft Beer and Cider Festival, exclusive après parties and Pond Skim. With something happening every week in spring there is no excuse for missing out on all the fun action in Perisher.
The BrewSki Craft Beer and Cider Festival kicks off on 9 September and will showcase Perisher’s selection of craft beers and cider available on the mountain and at The Station. The event will be held in Blue Cow with a beautiful vista backdrop to enjoy all the different offerings and live entertainment and food included. As the season starts to wind down, there is no better event to celebrate spring with the first annual Pond Skim happening at Perisher on 16 September. Pond Skim will see plenty of fun ‘pool’ action with a pond being built especially in Centre Valley, and will host enthusiastic competitors trying to skim across the pool in Perisher in colourful attire and fancy dress for great prizes.
