Week 5 of winter at Perisher has been and gone, and we were pleased to farewell it with a beautiful, bluebird day. We were treated to a reprieve from the strong winds we saw throughout the week with a calm, sunny Sunday.
Thanks to our trusty fleet of surface lifts, we were able to keep 18 lifts spinning despite strong winds. At one point, the wind was so strong it was necessary for us to even hold Piper T-Bar operations! Believe it or not, T-Bars do need to go on wind hold, too. When T-Bars are located in highly wind-prone areas on the mountain, the wind can force the haul rope out of assembly. Not ideal! That’s enough about the wind though…let’s get into the highlights of the past week.
Subaru Snowfest sculpture #2
Andrew ‘Grassi’ Kelaher visited us for a second time to bring Front Valley to life with another snow sculpture instalment. If you were lucky enough it see it in its prime last Wednesday, you would have also received some awesome free Subaru Merch! If you missed out, not to worry, Grassi will be back next week for a third and final sculpture, so keep your eye out!
