VAIL RESORTS ANNOUNCES EPICPROMISE AT PERISHER
Australia’s largest ski resort to join in company-wide contribution of US$8M supporting youth programs and environmental initiatives
Broomfield, CO (May 27, 2016) – With Perisher’s opening weekend around the corner, Vail Resorts Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Rob Katz announced that Vail Resorts is extending the EpicPromise program to the Perisher Ski Resort community and its employees. Perisher will join Vail Resorts’ year-round commitment to community support, environmental stewardship and employee engagement in giving US$8M of cash and product contributions to more than 250 nonprofit partners in the communities where the Company operates its resorts, annually. These grants support youth programs and environmental initiatives that provide basic needs, connect kids with the outdoors, rehabilitate popular trails and increase educational opportunities for all kids.
The EpicPromise Foundation will also be offered to Perisher’s employees, which supports Vail Resorts employees during their times of need through emergency financial assistance. Since January 2016, the EpicPromise Foundation has provided 114 Vail Resorts employees with US$177,386 in emergency financial grants.
Vail Resorts’ EpicVolunteers program will also be extended to Perisher employees, giving them the chance to have a more enriching, in-depth Experience of a Lifetime by awarding them with 40 hours of paid time off for a volunteer project with the charity of their choice. EpicVolunteers was developed from employee requests to have more robust volunteer opportunities and since inception, more than 70 employee volunteers have contributed 2,800 hours of service to non-profits worldwide.
Additionally, Perisher will also participate in EpicPromise Day starting in November this year when an expected 100 Perisher employee volunteers will come together around a small number of community projects, benefiting local nonprofit organisations for one day per year. Lastly, through the EpicPromise Community Grants program, Perisher is excited to continue partnerships with local youth and environmental organisations. Historically, Perisher has provided approximately AUD$50,000 annually to local community groups.
“EpicPromise connects our core values with everyday actions to ensure a promising future for our communities and our mountains,” said Peter Brulisauer, chief operating officer of Perisher Ski Resort. “Together with these non-profit partners, and our employees, we want to make sure we are working each day to preserve the natural environments where we work and play and make meaningful contributions to our community.”
