FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Over 80cm of Snow and 33 Lifts to Open
We have had an amazing week here in Perisher, as the storm hit the resort last Wednesday evening and has not stopped. The six day blizzard has blessed us with 82cm of new snow and it’s still going!!
6 days of freezing temperatures, heavy snowfalls and strong winds have provided sensational early season conditions for guests. On the back of this amazing winter storm, Perisher is opening up 33 lifts for the weekend. With some wind drifts up to 2 metres deep the grooming team has been putting in massive effort to open more terrain and lifts. Everyone’s favourites are making their debut this weekend. This week will see
- Thursday - Blue Cow open for the season featuring the Ridge and Summit Quad Chairlifts,
- Friday - Mt Perisher open for the season with the Mt Perisher Triple and Double Chairlifts
- Saturday - Guthega opening including the Freedom Quad Chairlift
These are some of the best early winter conditions we’ve had in years, allowing us to open up the 4 resorts areas of Perisher Valley, Blue Cow, Smiggin Holes and Guthega for our guests to enjoy.
Perisher’s Chief Operating Officer, Peter Brulisauer, says “The skiing this weekend will be amazing across all 4 resort areas with at least 32 lifts operating. It looks like the best early season conditions Perisher has seen since 2000”.
Perisher is forecast for a window of clear weather as these areas of the resort open, allowing guests to get out and explore an expanse of terrain.
The next few weeks are looking great for guests with unreal early season skiing and snowboarding, the Brewski Craft Beer & Cider Festival, and Neon Night Skiing & Snowboarding.
Perisher guests can stay updated on the snow conditions everything happening in Perisher via the website or via the Perisher App, which offers live updates on current lift and terrain status along with snow and weather. Guests can also track their stats and runs as terrain opens through the Perisher Dashboard.
