How to prepare for Peak Snow Days at Perisher
There are certain periods during winter when Perisher is particularly popular. During these periods, we strongly encourage guests to plan ahead to make the most of their mountain experience.
You’ll see us refer to these periods as ‘Peak Snow Days’, and if you have a lift ticket purchased during this time, you’ll likely receive some communications from us to help you prepare.
We have pulled together our top tips and tricks to help you prepare for popular periods at Perisher.

Explore
Perisher is the largest ski and snowboard resort in the southern hemisphere! With over 3,000 acres of rideable terrain, there’s plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the thrills and chills of skiing and boarding.
Avoid the crowds and explore one, two, or all four resort areas during your trip. Whether you're a seasoned expert or a first timer, there is a heap of amazing terrain outside of Front and Centre Valley waiting for you to enjoy.
Try starting your day at Blue Cow with a coffee or hot chocolate from Subarista and enjoy arguably the best views in the resort!
If you're a first-timer or beginner, we recommend heading to Smiggin Holes (affectionately known as 'Smiggs') for Perisher's best beginner terrain and plenty of group and private lessons options with Perisher Snowsports School.

Act
We love our first timers as much as we love our locals and season-regulars. Whether it's taking the bus instead of driving, or starting your day at Smiggin Holes or Guthega and not at Front Valley, everyone has a role to play in ensuring Peak Snow Days are as enjoyable as possible.
If you do decide to drive to Perisher, please consider carpooling where possible. It is also worth considering starting your day with Skitube from Bullocks Flat or Snowy Mountains Bus Service from Jindabyne. Learn more below.
Know
Skitube
Catching Perisher's Skitube from Bullocks Flat will save you the time and stress of driving in alpine conditions with potential snow and ice on the road, as well as help you avoid the traffic that can build up during peak periods. There's also plenty of free day and overnight parking at Bullocks Flat, meaning you'll spend less time looking for a spot and more time enjoying the mountain! Skitube is the quickest and most reliable way to travel to Perisher, being only a 10-minute trip between Bullocks Flat and Perisher Valley!
Bus
The improved Snowy Mountains Bus Service is another convenient alternative to traveling between Jindabyne and Perisher. The Snowy Mountain Bus Service takes passengers from Jindabyne to Perisher 7 days a week, with connecting services via East Jindabyne, Tyrolean Village and Cooma.
Wondering how to get to your beginner lesson in Smiggin Holes? Perisher offers a free shuttle service between Perisher Valley and Smiggin Holes every day between 7:30am and 5:30pm. Pick-ups are from the turning circle at Perisher Skitube Terminal and the metal bridge outside the Smiggins Hotel at Smiggin Holes. Shuttles depart approximately every 15 minutes daily.
On-mountain accommodation
Staying on the snow? If your accommodation does not provide parking, you will need to park your car at Bullocks Flat and take the Skitube to Perisher Valley. 'Open Return' Skitube tickets are available for guests staying on-mountain and allow for one trip up and one trip down, to be used within 14 days. Please speak directly to your accommodation provider to confirm the transport options available to you.
